Karen Blixen Museum is managed by the National Museums of Kenya (NMK) and is located in the residential area of Karen, 15 km from the Nairobi city.
It was named after the heroin of the movie Out Of Africa, Karen Blixen, that was shot in 1985, based on her autobiography, and the National Museums of Kenya acquired the house for the purpose of establishing a Museum. The Museum was opened in 1986.
The museum is open to the public daily from 9:30am to 6:00pm, including weekends and public holidays.
